JD 5200 CLUTCH

HELP I thought i was a decent mechanic but i might be wrong! I recently acquired a 5200 and could not get the pto clutch to engage. In my wisdom i thought clutch pressure plate problem. I break the tractor apart and replace the whole assembly making sure it all matched and was the right one. I then wiggled it back together and bolted it up. I hook up clutch linkage and there is nothing . No resistance at all. I unhook linkage and work lever with my hand and it goes way beyond the point of where it should hit the fingers. Any suggestions? HELP
 
Don’t know much about that tractor never drove one,
never worked on one, but I have put some clutches in.
Looking at the JD parts diagram ..see link.. I am
curious if you had the release bearings out? Did you get
those number 9 ..chock blocks.. in the the proper
positions?
