The old oil furnace was smoking badly so I went to see my old buddy who gave it to you me 40 years ago. He said I have just what you need, a propane furnace. 100 bucks and it’s yours. I think it will be OK to heat my little shop. I got it working today. The heat came out of the old furnace on the bottom this comes out on the top so I made a diverter

That old fire box was sure rotten !

I don't know the BTUs but it makes it warm enough for me to take my gloves off in 1/2 an hour at 30 degrees. I know, most of you wouldn't even wear gloves until it was below zero. LOL

don't let your temperature drop below freezing in there, that is a condensing furnace and will always have water inside it, if it freezes, it will wreck it.

I saw what looks like a drain pipe on the side.
I thought it was for the A- coil and A/C.

Maybe a 100 watt light bulb on a thermocube inside is in order?

That drain tube is for the water that condenses out of the combustion gases. Yes a 100 watt light bulb inside the blower compartment would be a reasonable precaution. There is a drain trap in there where a lot of the water collects. And that heat will rise up into the secondary heat exchanger where there is still more water.

Oh boy, that could be a problem. It does make a lot of water. It doesn't often freeze in the shop, but I don't work as much as I used to. I guess we'll see.

(quoted from post at 21:52:48 02/02/21) My shop tends to collect unusual things. Anyone need an airplane starter?

No, but if there is some sort on military aviation museum nearby, donate it.

Then take the credit on your 1040

It must be worth $5 grand, right?

You should be able to look at the model number and get the BTUs . Nice unit. I have one similar that is 150,000 BTU on natural gas. How did you vent it?
