So what is you question, are you asking if the purlin will carry the load or what is your question.
 
I'm sure it will hold the r panel
that's pretty light, but there is
windload, snowload, purlin spacing,
lots of variables. At 30ft not going
to hold much tho

Are you someplace with heavy snowfalls? 30' with 4' spacing may be too much. If you could weld some steel pieces across the open side of the C every 3 or 4' it would give them more strength.
 
Your location says Texas. Do you even get snow? If not, why do you care?

The carport manufacturer would be able to tell you the snow load rating of the carport.

Beyond that spacing is irrelevant. Are we talking about 12" steel girders or 2x2 wooden sticks?
 
Have you tried googling "steel z purlin span tables"? It seems to me you would need to know the manufacturer and dimensions for that particular purlin.
