Farmall M Clutch & Brake Problems

Have 2 late 1940s Farmall M tractors. Both have been sitting outside in the elements in south Texas for 2+ years. When I press on the clutch peddle, the brake peddle also depresses. When I press on the brake peddle, the clutch peddle also depresses. Would appreciate advice on what the problem(s) might be and any suggested remedies. Thanks.

I think there's a grease zerk on the front of the clutch pedal and one brake pedal and you can oil the pedal shaft.

In the diagram shaft all the pedals set on passes
through the transmission case. The clutch pedal on
the left is the clutch, it is seizing to the shaft on which
it is only to use as a pivot point. The left pedal of the
two that your right foot would operate is for the left
rear wheel brake. It is keyed ..attached.. to the shaft
and when the left brake pedal is depressed it
transfers motion through the twist of the shaft to the
left brake through a lever mounted on the shaft
outside of the clutch pedal. The right brake pedal also
uses the shaft as only a pivot point and has to be free
to pivot on the shaft. Lubing the pivot points with
penetrating oil and working them back and forth
independently will likely produce satisfactory
operation other than in worse case scenarios. Sorry if the photo diagram is not real clear.

I really appreciate the information. I think I understand the problem, now. Also, sorry for the misspelling/incorrect use of the word pedal.

Just hard dry grease makeing things stiff. Could be as simple as just a liberall greaseing. Or remove the pedals and clean out the crap.Pretty easy.
