I am in the middle of digitizing 35mm slides. I tried scanning them but quality was not the best.
I have this slide projector.....TDC Streamliner 500

Bulb died.
I can find what seems to be the correct bulb(CZX 500W 115-120v)...

Before I buy a bulb or 2, I want to get the old one out.
I've googled and googled to find nothing of value to R&R a bulb for my projector.
Based on the pic of the bulb, seems like the bulb base has a raised edge that cams into a groove.
Try as I did, it aint moving. Not one bit.

For all intents, body of projector could be removed, but not easily.

Before I do something stupid, hoping someone has knowledge on how you remove the old bulb??

Thank you.

Even in a relatively dry environment there will be some oxidation on the surfaces of the socket and bulb which will cause the bulb to stick. apply a little of your favorite parts loosener and give it some time then work at it.

Over 40 years since I had to replace one of those on my Airequipt slide projector. Make sure the glass does not break in your hands. Painful experience. But I have had excellent results using my flatbed scanner to digitize my old slides. I'm pretty sure better than taking a picture of a projected image on a screen. Mine is an HP Scanjet G 3010. Here is one from 1974. Originally a 126 slide from a cheap little Kodak Instamatic camera.

The infamous CZA/DAB bulb. The base is likely corroded and stuck. If possible, push the lamp down
while wearing thick leather glove or use a wadded up towel/rag in case it shatters and try to wiggle it
loose. I have had to break them in some instances and pull the base out with needle nose pliers. If damaged, you might end up having to replace the lamp socket too if you can find one. I replaced a lot of these when I was an AV repair tech. Prepare for sticker shock. If you need but cannot find a socket, contact your school district and see if they have AV repair dept. They may have some old parts. eBay is another option.

Don't touch the bulb with your bare fingers when putting new bulb in, you don't want skin oil on the glass or it won't last
long.

Don't know about the bulb. I've been doing that and have had good luck by making a slide holder and taking a picture of the slide against a piece of frosted glass with a light behind.

I've removed stubborn park/brake light bulbs safely by using a short piece of heater hose that will fit tight on the glass. You can put a lot of twisting pressure on it that way without driving shattered glass into your finger. I found that out the hard way. I'd still recommend using a slide scanner to digitize those slides. It has to be a proper scanner set up for slides and negatives of course.

Thank you All.
Found a pair of gloves w/rubber nubs. Rocked and twisted bulb carefully. Took a bit, but it came out. New bulb to be ordered today.

My scanner = 600dpi. It worked ok for decent slide picture quality.
I got the projector in my ma's estate.
Fired it up. Camera on a tri-pod, works very well.

This pic did not scan well, but camera picked it up....

Brother customized it in '79.
It did not rub out(big grin).

Thanks again,
Don T.
