In the early 60s we had a neighbor that drove around on a Jubilee and check his farm and stop at the neighbors. I remember he stopped at our
house one day and when he was going to leave, he hit the starter and it was already running and made that loud noise. Well he said he had
just put a new muffler on it and couldn't hear if it was running. He asked for a screwdriver and pounded it into the end of the muffler and
said "Now I can tell' and drove off. Funny what you remember from childhood.

My neighbor to the west of my farm used a 601 ford like a 4 wheeler. He also used it to plant corn and potatoes and rake hay. The clutch pedal was worn completely slick and shiny !

My friend and his little brother got under their Dad's brand new pickup truck and poked holes in the muffler with a screwdriver so the truck would "rumble". They got their hides tanned for that. :)>))

We had a fellow in our town who lost his driver's license permanently for drunk driving. For the last 20 or so years of his life he used his 8N for transportation. He was doing that right up until he died in his mid 80s. He drove as far as 10 or 12 miles sometimes to go to bars or simply grocery shopping. I think the troopers could have given him more DWIs for driving his tractor while under the influence but they didn't seem to bother him. As I recall George Jones was alleged to have gotten a ticket for driving his Ford garden tractor while drinking.

There was an old man in our neighborhood that also used his Jubilee as a car. However.he did not drink. He was just such a bad driver they took his liscence away. That is one awsome picture.
Sutable for framing and displaying in a commercial setting....

My dad had vision problems and lost his license, picked up the Farmall H for transportation after that.

Went I was a kid I remember the mail carrier for my grandparents was a guy who ran his route with a Henry J. When it was down, he used a Farmall Cub. They lived quite a way out from town, Sunman, Ind. He always had time to say " Hi " to us kids.

We had an old fellow here lost his
license for drunk driving. Wasn't
uncommon to see his 8N parked in front of
the bar when we rode the school bus past
the bar on the evening ride home. Wonder
what ever happened to him? Other kids
didn't know much about him.
