Oil Change - Farmall M

This will be the first time I change the oil on the Farmall M that I inherited from my dad. When I was doing some research I saw there is a cap on top near the gasoline cap that I put the oil in? I assumed that was correct but when I was watching a video on an oil change the guy mentioned adding the oil through a cap near the front of the tractor but on the side on the motor.

Is either of these fine? Or is there a specific one I should use?

Thanks in advance!

No, Oil goes in the right front corner of the engine, only ! You better get yourself a owner manual and get familar with the book, Please for your pwn good

The cap at the front right side is the one to use. The other cap by the gas cap is actually the old gas cap and the big cap was for distillate. The tractor would start on gas and after the engine was warm switched to distillate which was cheaper than gasoline. Congratulations on being a new M owner. You may want to purchase an owners manual. Reprints are available online. If you are going to do repairs an I&T manual would also be a good purchase.

I would suggest you get an Owners Manual and maybe a Shop or Repair Manual. And if you are planning on doing much work on it get a Parts Manual too. They are great for
showing the order parts go in and where they go even if you don't use them to order parts from. They are available as reprints, probably form this site, and will tell you
a LOT of what you want to know but don't know yet. Well worth the price.
