He either needs to shorten the stack or else get a run at it it he thinks it will fit in there!!!

Well, we know that buildings were moved way more frequently back then than in recent years, and it looks like this is taking place on a railroad grade. I'll bet that the building slid sideways and that the driver needed to turn around and go back in order to get a hook onto it where needed to get it back on course.

moved a garage one time with a farmall M and a haywagon, Had to block off the road though it was a little wide LOL

My neighbor hauled a 2 car garage about thirty miles,. Don't remember the specifics but it went down the highway and it
was free.

Good evening: Interesting picture. What type location or situation might that be? The tunnel or passage could be for a creek or it might be for cattle to get from one side of the embankment to the other. The thought of a railroad is interesting, many ran on embankments across miles of low ground. The rocks or stones as part of the construction indicate fairly permanent work. Are we looking at a steam engine that was for belt-driven equipment? Many of those were able to transport themselves but were not strong pullers (as far as I know). Somebody reading this knows these things!

DMartin, while there were portable engines that did not pull themselves, steam traction engines do have tremendous power and due to their weight have great traction. I have witnessed this myself and you can view it on Youtube. Steam engines generate maximum power at stall. This is why steam locomotives have traction problems compared to diesels at very low speed.
