Snow storm. Maybe I should change tractor tires?

I bought this 4640 3 falls ago. Previous owner had put on Alliance bias ply tube type 20.8-38 tires. I have never liked them. I finally decided it was time to upgrade them. I got Firestone 20.8 42 radials. Neighbor is borrowing the tractor to haul manure because he does not have a cab on his. I picked up the tires last night and dropped them off at his place, and he decided to start before I got there. I have no idea WHY he decided to do it in the middle of the driveway instead of in his shed?!? It got pretty windy snowy and dark by the time I changed the second one

Never seen that style wheel on a 40 series, but I like it. Did he use his loader to change the tires/rims, maybe that's why he was outside? Chains gonna fit?

Chains fit, but I'm gonna need to add one or two cross chains.

He had one completely changed when I got there and had put away his tools. I did the other side, and did it all by hand. I'd bet he used his skid steer.

I have alliance on my 3020 they came on it when I bought it
they were brand new they are all split in the front of the bars
from pulling hard

So he just bailed on you and left you to do the second tire all by yourself and by hand? Didn't even offer the use of the skid steer?

Hope he takes better care of your tractor than he does you.

Wow, those are big tires! You probably
won't even need chains. I wonder how much
faster the tractor will go?

Barnyard, I coulda used the skid steer, and would have, but figured I would try to do it by hand. He did not abandon me, he had to go milk cows. Had I not showed up, he would pry have finished it on his own after chores.
