Added to my 'herd'

I just aquired a Farmall 350. Got a phone call from a friend. his 90 year old mother in law decided to sell off the old equipment and sell the ranch. That 350 was the newest and biggest tractor on the place, the place had been leased out for 25 years. Asked me if I would be interested in buying it,or knew someone who would. I jokingly made a rediculously low 'offer',not really serious. The next morning he calls and says I bought a tractor.Said she would rather me have it than haul it to a sale. He delivered it later that day. It's a 'drawbar' tractor, has a Swarts wide front, and ons new rear tire.Runs, but has a slight miss. Tin is straight and paint is good as it has been shedded. Dont need it.Already have 17 running tractors(counted em last night).Susan isn't pleased about another tractor. But she's philosophical about it. We weren't looking, had said we weren;t going to buy any more tractors....We had enough. Never say never! :)

Understand the feeling about the wife not being pleased about another tractor. In 1984 my son and I were out riding around (he was 9) when we came upon a
Farmall M in front of a hardware store in a rural town (Taylorsville, Ky.). Well we stopped and looked at it, "can I have it Daddy?" I may have forgotten to mention it until Will told Momma that Daddy bought another M. WHAT, #@*&%^ stuff hit the fan. I still have it, and Will has yet to contribute cost wise to keeping it up. A constant joke between us. For instance, Hey Will, your tractor needs tires. Ellis

She sold all the rest of the old machinery about 2 years ago. I more or less bought it 'sight unseen'.Wasn't real sure it would even run,but thought it probably would without much trouble.

I couldn't turn down a 350, and I'm not an IH person! Much like the late AC D series, the 350 is dressed up so much more than the H it hails from.

Live PTO, TA, stronger live hydraulics, extra hydraulic valves, and maybe power steering make the 300 a handy small tractor. Worst case, if you can to sell off an older H or M to recover most of the cost of the 300, that could be a low cost upgrade.

We had a 350 for a number of years when I was growing up. Good tractor! Ours had a narrow front on it. Dad had a New Idea loader put on it--one way hydraulics, and manual trip bucket. I plowed a lot of snow with that.

I agree! One can never have too many tractors. However,it starts to get expencive, and eventually you run out of run to park them. ;)

Very true! We just built a shed last year and it's already full. We just got another tractor last month and looking at another one! We gotta build another shed now lol.

What do you do with seventeen tractors, are they all useable? I had four and could have used one more. Tell Susan I said Hi.

Try to use each at least once a year. I have the ones I acctually farm with. The rest are just 'toys'. :) But they all do do actual farm work.
