Big hay crop last Summer,now a mild Winter equals hay for sale every where at bargain prices.My cattle are still grazing,I'm giving them some hay just because
I have a lot of it.

We’re are still on late fall / winter pasture as well . Good thing we are not long on hay and if this dry streak thats now 8 months long I won’t have much hay at all sure hope I don’t end wishing I hadn’t sold my extra hay

Here in Nova Scotia the only hay available is at extremely high prices being trucked in from Quebec west to Alberta. I hope I have enough in the barn to see me through the winter. I’ll be very glad when the grass greens up in the spring.

Hay supply is tight here in South Central Ontario, and prices are high, while cattle are nearly worthless.

What does a 4x5 roll of horse hay go for there?

Went to the hay auction yesterday first time in a long while.

Last year hay was short supply, saw small squares sell for 3-5 bucks a bale, never see that around here.

Yesterday everything sold for $1 to $3 a bale, most was $1.50-1.75.

Wasn’t much straw, the couple bundles were $2 a bale.

Big rounds and squares were $25-40 a bale, they were not great hay. Last year thry were bringing $60 and up.

Cattle are probably going to take another big hit here in the next while which is exactly what “they” want .

SV, What is hay bringing in 3x4 square bales in your area? Here in NW Colorado hay is hard to find one neighbor has some order 200 per ton + Freight.

I sold some 5x6 round bales Of triticale for 100$ a ton . I may wish i hasn’t sold it . We are flat not getting any moisture at all

I’d imagine hay may go higher as time goes on

Guy I bought a loader off of last Saturday told me that he's got people beating down the door for his hay and prices are the highest he's seen in a long time, but he isn't selling any until he knows he has enough to make it through the winter.

This is Central NY, Southern Tier.
