Got it cleaned out and rearranged it a little bit . Got my micrometer set today and my dial indicator set . Now hopefully I can get the rest of my engine stand here and get it put together . Got some led lights so I can see . Also picked up a few more guards for my mower

I hope it’s like riding a bike because it’s been almost 20 years since I last overhauled an engine

Take your time, check and recheck everything, it been about 23 years ago i rebuilt one, i forgot most of it 😂

My friend has a 77 chevy with a sb 400, years ago his son ran it low on oil and spun a bearing

I bought the carcass for $200 bucks in 1998, well, both heads were cracked, needed a crank, his was an automatic my truck is a manual, so i had to buy a externally balanced flywheel it all cost a pretty penny, but i had a great engine and it was a whole lot of fun

The dump truck engine needs to be rebuilt one of these years the welder I’m hoping I can just do rings . And also need to do the two cylinder John Deere engine on the crawler so there’s plenty of engine rebuilding to do . I don’t mind doing the rebuilding It’s the R&R I hate on automotive type stuff . If this would have been a tractor engine it would be rebuilt by now

Did you try ebay?

I have this old manual, I thought it covered trucks too, but it doesn’t. I got them from my dad, look theres a grocery receipt from 1985 in it!! 😂😂😂

Will that book work for my dump truck ? And what’s the actual difference between a car 350 and my 350 besides someone said mine has a double chain for the timing and I know it has a lot bigger oil pan

In most gm 70 era pickups the 350's casting # on the back left of the engine where the trans bolts up usually ended up with 010. That meant that it has a high nickle content to the block and most always was a 4 bolt main. I would sell 010 blocks to machine shops or the oval track guys. I would think the big trucks would be that as well. I dont know that much about 350's,but i know there worth making money on. 400's must be like a dinasoar now.

(quoted from post at 23:16:38 01/15/21) I can t believe how much light they make

Use a wore out disc and add a pole to it.
Then attach one of those led lights to the pole vertically.
Makes a great work light you can move around to light up the right spot

I have an old halogen light my nephew mounted to a steel
post and made a base from rebar and it really works nice . I
may grab another led and make another one
