Ford 6610 or 7610

I asked earlier this week about buying a ford 6610 or Case 5120. Well I decided to go with ford, but now a ford 7610 popped up, both have loaders. The 7610 is a little more, would it be worth paying a bit more for the extra hp. I eventually would like to find a new holland 408 discbine, could the 6610 run an 8ft discbines?

Get the 7610 same size chassis as 6610 but more power which is good to have when operating a discbine
Many 7610s have dual power which is another good option to have

Do not buy a NH 408 discbine. They do not have a NH cutterbar and parts are way overpriced. I had a NH 411 and my dealer said get rid of it and I don't care what brand you buy just not a 408,411 or 415. As far as easy to pull discbines take a look at New Idea machines. Tom

What I found was the 6610 had plenty of snot most of the time, but the turbo would have been nice when pulling up a hill, or when PTO got loaded.

I agree on the dual power. I had a 7700 with dual power, great or a mowing tractor. Downshift with the dual power just before the corner, then upshift after.

did not reply to the original post but I only drove 1 ford. don't remember the number but it was new in 1995. compared to driving my 5250 case it was awful
Now i'm 6 ft 4 so might be the reason.
ford just doesn't sit nice for me for more than 15-20 minutes. my case I can go 4 hours no problem.

I also live in an area where ford are near impossible to find because nobody liked them, so dealer disappeared.

Not sure, but isn't the 6610 the non turbo version of the 7610?I agree,Buy the bigger model. You will never regret the exrta power. There are several 7ooo tractors here. Cant think of a single 6000 series tractor.

The Case IH, Ford NH, and Deutz-Allis mergers/acquisitions were the best thing that happened around here for Ford and later NH. The old line Ford dealers who made it "big" in the 8N days were sadly under resourced by the time the 1980's rolled around. Dealers losing IH, Case, Allis Chalmers made them go pursue Ford and had sufficient building space and money for a small inventory of parts so they could handle the full width of the Ford NH line. Ford and later NH did far better during the 1980's and 1990's around here than the 1960's and 1970's even though the farm economy was better in the earlier times.
