I can't see in the picture that well, Is there a crank hanging down in front of the radiator? I
think that would be a problem driving thru tall grass and weeds if it is.
 
That wasn’t the only problem those conversions faced. They worked fine as an estate maintainer or golf course tractor, but can you imagine plowing with that. Some conversions offered a belt pulley that mounted to utilize the front drive. There was also a contraption that was a cradled Jack shaft for rear belt belt pulley use. They were an experiment in economic small farm power.
 
Looks like a connecting rod welded to the frame to support the upright exhaust.
Otherwise the manifold would snap at the first bump.
