Took this shot while I was putting a hay bale out for the cattle this evening. No wind and temp way above normal for us. +18F and usually it would be more like -18

Stormy weather coming to us mid week they are saying. I took a second shot that included some of the cattle come to check out the new hay bale.
Nice weather we have been having below freezing its been nice, started working on the pond ice this weekend, its not in to bad of shape! Im going teach my daughter how to skate.
Lucky this pond is no more than maybe 30” deep, we both fell threw on the edges, the snow insulated it and it dident refreeze right, but the center is sold. I used my little lawn boy snow blower to clear that area. I cant/ wont take the atv with plow on the ice.

Thanks, I should have done some video too as they came walking out to the feeder but only had the I phone to shoot with.

I don't think that would happen here as we have had plenty of freezing weather the past couple of months. I've got an ideal skating slough just over the hill from the yard if I wanted to clear the ice. And if I had skates
I made a video of cutting a hole in the ice with the auger a couple of years ago. Might need to try that again.Lol, ya i can skate but falling sucks! Im rusty, ill go out every day and get back into it. I fell today and smashed my elbow on the ice,
Plus im pretty sore from tubing with her on Saturday, my buddy/neighbor has a towline to pull you back up the hill, but riding down on the tube beats you up. My daughter used to ride on my back, which was more of a beating😂, this year I convinced her to try to go down on her own, now shes a pro! No more fear. Gives dad a rest 😂😂😂

I’ll sharpen my skates and head out, you go get the
ice clean. My brother is kinda like you. He keeps
about 24 beef cows, and is retired from the police
force, has all day to put out some hay for his cows,
but usually puts it off till late afternoon too. My
brother is 72, and has had his beef herd for 40
years, so I guess it’s been working for him.

That's pretty cool, literally LOL ! We skated this weekend on the large pond, ice was so so.
That will be fun for her to learn, get some shin pads, elbow pads at least, should prevent injuries.
Pond ice is difficult to learn on opposed to rink ice, use care if going backward as if a skate catches an imperfection..... don't ask how I know lol !!
