Walmart oil

I bought 2 quart jugs of synthetic oil the other day. The strange thing is; It was cheaper than the regular oil! Was it missmarked? This is the first time that I have used synthetic oil. Has anybody got any opinions about it?

It could be refined and sold by several different refineries depending on the region of the country where it is purchased. (Less shipping charges that way) If it’s good or bad oil depends on whether the reviewer is a WalMart lover or basher. I’d have no problem using it in my engine.

I bought a couple cases of oil several months ago off the Walmart website and noted the same thing .... the full synthetic was cheaper than the dino oil.
Today the synthetic is about $1.20 more for a 5 qt. jug.

I kind of wish I hadn't bought it now. I've always run straight 30 weight oil before, and this is the first time I've bought 10W 30, let alone synthetic oil. All my engines are flat tappet, and now I'm leary of using this oil.

I have been using the Supertech brand for
a few years now with out any problems.
Synthetic for 03 f150 5.4 with over 200,000 miles
with motorcraft filters every 4000 miles.
Straight blends in all the others, 86 ford 5.0,
mowers, and 9N fords.
I have no complaints.

wouldn't worry much about your tappets, but if you have old gaskets you might see some leaking. Also, if using 30 wt. gave you the pressure you like, the 10/30 might lower that number a little.

I've been running Mobil ! in my Cockshutt 540, which is a flat head, for years.

What are you going to use it in? A modern vehicle it will be fine, if it's for an old tractor, gas or diesel, the 15-40 Supertech diesel oil would be better. Walmart is good about taking returns, I have exchanged unopened oil that I bought by mistake.

I bought Supertech regular oil for a newly rebuilt 16 hp Briggs & Stratton. I used a quart when I mowed the yard. Changed the oil and used another quart. Changed it to Pennzoil and it never use another drop. I buy a lot of stuff from WM, but not their Supertech.

I think you will like the 10W30 synthetic and it will provide as much protection as straight 30W non synthetic.
I know for a fact that Mobil-1 10W30 will maintain higher oil pressure when hot than non synthetic 30 weight as proven in two of my garden tractors I use for mowing. They both have oil pressure gauges. Haven't tried the Super-Tech oil in those machines so I don't know if it is equally as good.

I bought a 12 Qt "Bag-in-Box" container of Walmart Synthetic 10W30 for my D-17 Allis. I still use Mobil-1 in my wife's Subaru and my Tacoma P.U. and, like I said, I still use Mobil-1 10W30 in my lawn tractors that see heavy use in very hot weather.

I use super tech all the time in all my vehicles. Usually the 10-30. Might use 15-40 shell or tsc oil in bigger diesel engines but all the gas stuff gets the super tech. Has for years. I have 0 oil related issues with anything. Everybody has their own oil conspiracy theories. Mine is that it's all the same. You just don't have to sponser Tony Stewart or John Force if you buy super tech. And yes, people are stupid so they don't think about that part of it.

LOL, yep read the specs that it meets, they are on every bottle, every brand.

And all synthetic oil is still derived from dino oil or derived from natural gas.

NAPA full synthetic used to be cheaper than conventional too,$3/quart. I used it for all the gas farm stuff. Not sure what changed but one day it was suddenly $7/quart.

Thanks for the opinions! I guess I'll try it and see what happens, or maybe mix one quart of 30W oil with it.
