went to replace the right wheel seal as it was leaking and found out someone did a screw up. looks like a torch gouge to me. can see they filed it also. but not good. i will give it the JB weld and emery it round. had to have been done on the recall i would think. with the amount of oil and dirt on that side it was leaking for a long time. guess no warranty , but i will warranty my job for myself.it still had the old leather seal in there. got one ordered from case ih 33.00 .

Looks like a shielded bearing which I don't recall a 560 ever useing nor leather seal. Also, tractors that did use shielded bearing, shield went toward center.

I would guess some one had a outer bearing failure and used a torch to get it out.

Even as small as it is, sure is a bad spot to have a gouge in an axle on a tractor that didn’t have oversized axles to start with.

Wouldn’t mount a picker on it anyhow!

The work that done under warranty on the 560 was 55 or more years ago - it could easy have been replaced 2-3 times since then.

The JB weld is a good plan. After all It is not under pressure.
Looks like someone drove it a long time with brake on to burn the paint off drum. Or is it like our 700 Case. The brake didn't always release and you didn't know it until you smelled it.

That is probably the highest stressed location on the axle. If the axle breaks and that side hits the ground, the operator may not survive. Replace the axle.

This tractor has 2600 hrs on it and was sitting the last 30 years.and was not used much So even. A Chinese brg. Would last longer, I hope. It still has the original fan belt on it, for comparison sake and a brg would last longer than a belt.
And it has the original leather wheel seal also.

Dad had both axles break on the 300. One he was harrowing, crossed a furrow. He had the torq lever back, it bent the lever a bit but saved him from harm. Second time he was cultivating with a front mount cultivator, he took the pto lever off and put an arm rest on that side from the cast axle up. And that bracket saved him that time.

Neighbor was going down the tar road with a mounted picker on one of these models, axle broke. He skidded to a stop and was ok, but I guess it was a heck of a ride.
