Got spoiled.

Ever since 1977 when I first started restoring cars and trucks. I have always bought a detailed shop Manuel
for my projects I do. When I rolled in to farm tractors I was doing the same. the reason was clear to me
because I could get the proper information I needed at the time I needed it for the tractor. Now the
internet has many different resources to get this information from. that has shown me ever since 1994 when
they internet first came alive. this web sight has always been a reliable source to come to on this
internet. This web sight I like to think has been do to people like you and I who have tried to keep it
straight and true facts on tractors. Thanks to every body who have taken the time to make this web site true
with all the information that is on it. I still buy for each tractor these books. 1- A good shop Manuel that
has every thing in it. 2- parts Manuel or parts book for they tractor, and the last maybe an operator book.
When they tractor is restored and if I see it I can include these fine books with the sale if the buyer
requires them to. Thank you Yesterday tractors for being the best research place to come to looking on
tractors. I think every body here on tis sight can pat them self on the back.

Brent,I too buy the books. Owners, service and parts books. So nice to just pull the book from the shelf and get what I need. You can lay a book on the bench and refer to it as needed through out the day. And really nice to just give the parts man a part number, rather than try to explain just what part I am needing. My closest IH dealer is 300 miles away so the books are a necessity.

For a time I tried it without books but found my knowledge lacking and it was frustrating having parts left over( oh well, probably doesn't need that anyway). Now I make copies of the pages I need so I don't have to worry about getting them dirty while I repair something. Last save my axx by the manuals job was when I had taken a hydraulic control unit apart a couple of months prior and realized with all the different sizes of balls and springs that my memory wasn't going to get it back together.

I have taken a picture with my iPhone and sent it to the parts guy by text or email. The parts guy can see the part you are looking for, and you can also send a picture of the tractor serial number too. Really helps the fella on parts to know exactly which part and model tractor you have.

when I was a kid working at local John Deere dealer for summer school it very discussing when some farmer would send Mrs. Farmer in to get some parts and tell her they dealer know what hay baler have get some fly wheel sear pins.
Then when she went home with wrong ones Framer would have bird and make her get the right ones. By now she would be upset for of making same mistake again.
Finally not head would come in himself all MAD and learn he hadn't had that hay baler 10 years and now had a New Holland.

I often take pictures of the part and the model number decal before I go for parts.

When I needed a belt tensioner spring deal thingie for my corn stalk chopper, the parts man and I had a short friendly conversation about that model doesn’t have a spring tensioner at all....

I whipped out the pic, he looked at it, went back to his parts book, looked puzzled, called the manufacturer, got some numbers over the phone, and actually had all the parts I needed, he just didn’t know I needed them.......

Was a pleasant time getting parts and we didn’t have to argue at all.

Without the pic I think both of us would have had a harder day.

Parts folk must have long days some times, they get between a rock and a dumb rock a lot of times and what to do. Nearly all try very hard to make sense of things, I really appreciate those guys and gals.

The manuals are very nice to have I buy operators and service manuals and parts manuals when I can and I usually also get the sales brochure too
