560 Toy Tractor

I know this is just a toy tractor. But I have to ask how do I get the old broken steering wheel off the steering shaft without ruinning the
steering shaft? I've had this tractor since 1992. Then my son was born a few years later and I let him play with it and it broke some how.
I really don't want to part with it.

I would try a dremel with a cut off wheel and cut it piece by piece

As suggested by other reply, just hold the shaft with vise grips and carefully saw thru the steering wheel hub and it will come off. Might have to touch-up paint on
shaft, but you are going to paint new steering wheel anyway. Done many removals like that as I have restored MANY Toy tractors over the years. But not so much anymore.

Dremel is what I used in the past. Slit one side,slit the back, stick a screwdriver in the slot and twist.

If that is original paint it is in great shape!

Another vote for using a Dremel with a cutoff wheel.

It's not original paint. It was restored when I bought it.
