57th Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 57th wedding anniversary. I remember the day well. My wife had been living and working in San Diego and I was stationed at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. We flew back to Wisconsin for the wedding where it was 28 degrees below zero on the day of the wedding. I was looking over appropriate gifts for the 57th year and all I could find was advice to do something at night to celebrate. So, it looks like we'll be watching the Bills play the Patriots, if we can stay awake that long. (;>))

Thanx. I should add, we'll be doing more than watching the football game. We'll be having a candlelight dinner cooked by me and it will be "at night" seeing as how the sun goes down so early. Kicking off with cocktails and hors'd'oeurves(?). Scotch and water on the rocks for her and a very dry vodka martini with a lemon twist on the rocks for me, followed by salad, baked potatoes with lots of butter and sour cream and chives, baby carrots, creamed spinach and New York strip steaks broiled rare for her, medium rare for me. Red wine. I forgot to get any dessert although a cake with that many candles would draw the attention of the Fire Department. So, I guess it will be ice cream with egg nog somewhere in there. Probably last. With all that, I doubt we'll last much beyond the 1st quarter. (;>))

Congratulations Bill. We were married in August of 1962 so we have a few months on you. We decided on August instead of December as we could not wait for the Wis winter.

Congratulations. Keep counting. Too bad you couldn't spend the night watching the Chiefs.

We passed 41 in September. Usually happens during state fair week here in KS and we always went to the fair for a steak till this year when it was cancelled. Remember my wedding day well, The hangover from the night before, the ceremony, and 2 miles out of town the wife had to take over driving. Went to Kansas City and watched the Chiefs on Sunday for our honeymoon.

Congratulations Bill and Mrs. Bill,

My wife and I celebrated our 58th anniversary on Sept. 16. I remember our wedding day very well but frankly don't remember for sure if we did anything special for our 58th anniversary. This year has really been a blur.

Happy Anniversary. How old were you when you got married? We will celebrate 55 years, January 8, Elvis birthday. Almost three weeks before my 23rd BD. (we did not know then Jan. 8, was Elvis BD).
