Snow Blowing On Christmas Eve

After seeing how deep the snow was on the driveway I got out with the 2140 and McKee snow blower to clear it. Should have made an extra pass but one round made it wide enough to drive anyway.

2140 Snow Blowing

Beautiful rusty thanks . I could watch that snow blowing operation all day and I especially liked the cows at the end . Are you a fall calver?

I'm a year round calver. Not by choice but the bull is with the herd year round so calves show up whenever. I was lucky this heifer with her first calf knew how to look after a new born calf and it was licked off and up in no time. I was carrying hay and bedding out to the bush where they were staying for the first few days but she finally brought it home that stormy day.

Well whatever works . Sure nice looking little bunch you’ve
got there . A good heifer sure makes the job a lot easier that’s
for sure

Thanks Rusty. Nice video. Looks like a south wind but not very strong? We got 6 inches of snow here in southern MN on Wed night. Our temp was + 43 F in the morning (Wed 8 AM or so) and that night it dropped to - 5 F overnight. Really radical change. Have you tried your snow blower on a cab tractor? A day late but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the video, I sure enjoyed it. I really like the 2140, going to have one or one similar to it soon. Happy new year Rusty!

Ron, you got it right. Hardly any wind but just enough to persuade the snow dust to go North which is good for my driveway. Never have run a snow blower with a cab tractor but I'm sure its more comfortable. Merry Christmas and New year to you as well.

Thanks, same to you. I'm impressed with this little "German" John Deere. As I've said before , its the easiest steering tractor I've ever driven. It is better than the old Cockshutt 40 in most ways. Only advantage the 40 might have is at cold starting. I could get the old Buda gas engine started without heating at some pretty severe cold if necessary. The JD diesel won't handle starting very well once its below freezing unless I plug in the coolant heater.

I'm starting to fall for the 2140! It seems strong in the videos so I looked up the specs.
It's 82 hp., I thought it was in the 70 range. I've seen some 2130's give many yrs. of good
service and still going strong. Always enjoy the videos.

These little German Mannheim built John Deeres seem pretty good. This one had over 8000 hours when I bought it 3 years ago and I don't recall ever having to add oil to the engine. Platform is a little cramped to get on compared to the old Massey but thats a minor complaint.

Lots of people out there that like to bash the Mannhiem's, I am not one of them. Great tractors. Glad to see you using the coolant heater, makes for an even longer lived engine. Depending on how it was equipped you may also have a manifold heater that is operated by turning the start switch the opposite direction for a few seconds to heat the intake air. Comes in handy if you need the tractor on short notice

I've never seen any sign of an intake heater on this one. All it has is the ether injection line so ether can be injected right from the drivers seat when starting. I try to avoid using that stuff unless it is an extreme emergency.

Good for you on holding off on the ether. Not all had the manifold heater. All the best for 2021!
