I can remember bringing calves home from the sale barn in the back seat of a 52 chevy, the family car. Momma not happy

At the sale barn one time I saw some guy’s tying a goat in the very back of a Suzuki samauri with the soft top.the second they let go of it the goat preceded to perforate the hell out of that top! Expensive lesson

A distant relative ran about 500 head of cows and he would haul a calf in the back of an old Volkswagen bus 🚌

We related? When I was a kid, my parents collected bull calves from a couple of dairy farms the raise/feed for beef. We had a VW bus. The center seat came out, we had a box that would hold 2-3 calves. So mom, 3 kids, and some calves a rode happily.

Years ago there was an old local livestock scalper in my area who bought a new Mercury on a Saturday morning drove it to the sale barn and put a newly purchased calf in the back seat. I suppose if only he drove the car it wouldnt matter if the back seat got messed up and the new car smell was replaced with a different odor.

several years ago as a deputy here we got a call of a sheep near the freeway. Responded with another officer and had dispatch call what I figured was the party who owned it. Guy showed up in an old Volvo car, wrestled the sheep down and put it in the front seat of the Volvo with seat belt and drove off. Often wondered what truckers on the freeway were saying on CB. Probably ugly girl but great wool coat!!

Back in the late 80's I worked loading trucks at a canning plant that sold the sweet corn silage to farmers. There was a lady that came once a week with a nice looking Chrysler Fifth Avenue and filled the trunk and the back seat to the roof with silage.

HAULED MANY CALFS HOME IN SURBAN THAT WAY PRETTY WOMAN BLARING ON RADIO WE WERE TRYING TO NAME NEW CALF MY TURN CAME HER NAME WAS PRETTY WOMAN

We might be but he’d haul big calves one year a big calf of his got left on the summer range he went out and loaded a 600 pound calf in and drove home 😀

Years ago my dad went to an auction, and bought a model A pickup, and a calf. He tied the calf in the back, and drove home. Stan

Prior to going into the service in 1967, I had a beautiful little 51 Chevy hardtop, the interior was a little rough, so my girlfriend (now my wife) and I redid the door panels and headliner in white fake naugahyde, and put a set of seat covers on it. When I was drafted, my dad was having trouble with his car, so I told him he could drive mine. I came home on leave for Christmas, and he had taken the back seat out, and was hauling calves in it. I was so mad, I sold it for 50 bucks to a friends brother in law. Talk about cutting off you nose to spite you face!!. Regret it to this day.

Good Neighbors up the road from us, had a old maid daughter that had a 38 chev. 4 door, one Sat her dad took the car to sale barn and came home with a scoured calf in the back seat, really was a mess, she worked in the grocery store in town, she went and bought another car, that was his truck from then on.
