My Molines 58 year old radiator needs internal cleaning by a radiator shop have any of you guys had good luck with the latest acid soaking (for lack of a better term),or did it leak after the pro ess.

i gave this info at least a year ago that it had to be hot tanked. if the cores are rotten the rad shop will have to get a new core. and as i said before vinegar wont cut it. it has to be in a hot tank. any rad shop will stand behind what they do. if it is rotten they will tell you. and it is pressure tested after the repair, then painted black. i know when i take a rad in its a good job here.
and rad repair is not cheap anymore just like the rest of things nowadays.

Yeah everything has been put on hold been to busy at work I know what has to be done just wanted to know the outcome poeple had with the procedure.

You are lucky you have a shop that has a hot tank for radiators. Those tanks were banned in California years ago. Stan

Indeed they are, and not just in CA.

I still have a good shop that I use but it is nearly 40 miles away.

Twenty or twenty-five years ago, there was one in just about every town.

Im guessing you already know this, BUt....If you have a decent old radiator, generally speaking it is worth getting it cleaned, hot tanked, and pressure tested, vs throwing it away and buying a new one. Most of the new ones are not near as well built, china junk I suspect.

This is what I use and it does a good job of cleaning radiators and Cooling systems if your radiator is rotten it will eat it and is only for brass and copper radiators

I use Canfield ,I drive 85 miles to have them do my radiator work . Been in business for 70 years. They are in Erie ,pa. On east side.

I use some CLR...Calcium Lime and Rust remover. You can buy it a grocery store, does a great job. I had a car that had a new radiator in it but was running hot because the chunks of rust and debris from the block would plug up the rad tubes. I put a whole bottle of CLR in and ran it around the block . Drained, flushed and refilled with antifreeze. Its still clean. a year later...Ed

I have removed top tanks and cleaned out the tubes a few time times myself. It s not rocket science. Just make sure everything is super clean. Stan
