Temporary Blade Repair

I bought a old Kewanee blade on a local online farm auction for $200. It was cold and windy that day and I didn’t look it over very good. Got it home and hooked on to the 1850 and found this.

The pin the blade pivots on is loose. Trying to decide how to fix it, I remembered I had some pieces of poly from the White planter. I cut them in half and put them under the washers on the pin. I had a short piece of square tubing, so I cut 4 pieces and welded them next to it to hold them in place. That ought to hold it for a while.

You will only be supporting the top of the pin the pin bore is probably wore out the entire length of the pin

Probably, If you'll notice, I titled it temporary repair. I'm not a young pup like you and my arthritis doesn't like working outside in the winter like it did 20 or 30 years ago. This will make it so I can plow snow setting inside the cab instead of out in the open. That part of the frame is bent. I'll have to cut it out and weld in a new piece and tighten everything up. Too big of a job to start in December!!

I don’t blame you . Sometimes a guy has to make a temporary repair to make it through until the crop gets in or better weather comes around sometimes the repair works better than anticipated and you keep running it . Maybe you could find an old shaft that was enough bigger it would fit the wallowed out hole
