John Deere 50 - set rear rims on 1st or 2nd bevel?

When I bought this tractor the rear hubs were positioned on the outside bevel of the rim. These are the typical John Deere 50 two bevel rims. I know it is all about row spacing, etc., but this tractor isn't going to see row crop field work ever again. Any idea how they were set from the factory? Which way does the tractor look the best? With a wide open space on the outside and narrow on the inside of the hub or, with a narrow space to the outside and a wide space inside? I guess I am sort of leaning towards putting the hub on the inside bevel and exposing the wide part of the rim outward. Thanks.

I like the looks better with the wide part on the outside too. But that might be because that's how I have mine and maybe I'm just used to it.

Totally up to you. To complicate things, the clamps can be placed on the outside of the wheel also. We did that on one tractor, so that between plowing and row crop work, all we had to do was adjust the rack and pinion on the axle. I think the clamps were always shipped on the inside. It looked a little goofy with them on the outside.

They were set as narrow as they could be when they left the factory. They fit more on a flatcar that way. When they got to the dealer, they were spaced at whatever the norm for the area was,or the buyers needs. That was called 'Dealer set up'. There is no 'right or wrong.Set them in to 60,0r 64 inches. Narrow enough to easily load on a trailer.Set it up to whatever makes you happy. It will be just fine, and still 'correct'.

if its for daily use set wide they ride whole lot better and much more stable,if you haul it alot to shows whatever the width needs to be able to trailer. simple as that me i widen and do not do shows i use them.
