1920 sss shuttle shift issues

every now and then when i go to reverse on the shuttle shift it will grind.. i move the shifter back to forward and then reverse again and it goes in.. there is no forcing here im very careful because i dont want to brake anything.. this is a 1997 year 1920 model sss 4x4.. any help would be great full

SSS stands for synchro shuttle shift , not a power shuttle , you need to interrupt with the clutch pedal or wait till speed and rpm are matched

i use the clutch for reverse and forward.. it seems at times its not in reverse when i let out on the clutch it will grind.. i push the clutch back in and put it in forward then reverse and its fine.. i dont shift until tractor is stopped.. is there any sort of adjustment on the lever.. it has a new clutch and i have free play..
