Tractor restoration work.

A couple years ago I took a job in Restoring a 1965 CASE 440 (430) Triple speed tractor for an good old friend of mine. He had bought it new back in 1965 but sadly in they area he lived in they had taken it apart. He wanted it to be restored back to what it was. Sadly to say he past one a couple months ago and his kids called me wanting to know what to do with this tractor. I had to go threw the log on parts and add up coast of parts which was done threw the years on this tractor project. to understand that the coast was a large some of money they kids told me to try to take the tractor since I was restoring on my money for him. So to give you some ideal what the coast is on restoring a salvage tractor. Please not e this is just the parts on the whole tractor so far. Not even the coast of the labor on doing they job. Engine all the way threw to they rear.4,615.00 and that does not even yet get the good tires that are needed. WoW just as munch as a car would run to restore it.

that is cheap if its totaly restored. and for vehicles they cost ten times as much. nothing to throw 50k in a vehicle.

Brent. Sounds like to me that you should be the right new owner of the tractor because he was your friend that trusted you enough to restore it the first time. Secondly...... It would probably just sit at his house always with no action taken to it. One thing I don't understand about the post is that it's all in pieces "because of the area that they live at" . Wingnut

Restoring tractors is not for the faint of pocketbook. I find it very to get the cost of parts back on a restoration, just put a very inflated value on satisfaction and call it a breakeven.

Squatch just did a video where he went over every nickel they spent on his Dad's Super M. They were just shy of $10K with tires and paint, I think. The only labor on the bill was engine machining and radiator work.

I think you have to have sentimental attachment to the vehicle. I restored by old '77 Chebby 4x4 Heavy, new engine, new floor-boards so I don't fall out, new paint, new bench seat, and I love Ol' Blue. She even got new lug nuts! Guys in town try to buy it. The only way to justify it is tell the wife, "Now honey, let me tell you what a NEW 4x4 Chevy costs.... '
Restored my old Farmall H, very satisfied. Mainly for Christmas parades.
