Always end up with lots of left over plug wire...... But no ends or boots. Where do y'all buy more? 3 local parts stores said they didn't carry them.

i make all my wires. buy the wire in a roll and buy ends. at napa or bumper. lots neater job than any bought wires. these old ih tractors use a 90 degree end at the plug and no boot.

It seems to me that the part stores have a lot of lazy people working there. There quick to say that they can't get the parts because they don't want to take the time an look for them. It used to be they would look all over for parts for you now it seems that they like to stand around and do little.

I bot one of those wire kits but kept having trouble with the boots and wires coming loose. Finally broke down and bot the premade wires. Is there a secret to making them stay.

Had the gen'l Manager of the NAPA store do the exact same thing couple years ago. I went in for ONLY one thing, a tube of HYLOMAR UNIVERSAL BLUE gasket dressing. I looked around the shelves in the front. Looked around again. I was the only customer in the store. Finally he asked what I was looking for. I told him. He said he had never heard of it. I used to buy it at Blain's Farm & Fleet when Permatex had the packaging contract in the US, put it in a tube, put tube in a box, put the Permatex name on box & tube with HYLOMAR in big bold letters. The dummy looked it up on the Internet, He said, "Looks like it's good stuff." I even said, "It IS, that's why I want IT instead of any of this other stuff you have." He shut his computer off, never volunteered to order any. He went back to doing something else. I left.
I'll NEVER go in a NAPA store ever again. I don't see how you guys get ANYTHING done shopping for parts at NAPA.

Me too. My local NAPA has always had the oil filter and fuel filters on the shelf for my pretty rare Oliver 500 (David Brown 850) despite them being used on only a couple other models.

In regards to Hylomar, it is good in many, but not all, applications. I heard that Permatex and the patent holder for Hylomar got into some kind of pissing match and Permatex no longer can make nor sell it. AFAIK, it is still sold under the Hylomar and Valco labels. May not have the distribution breadth of NAPA and other auto parts chains, but online you can find it easily. Your NAPA guy probably had no access to a supplier for it and that's why he never offered to order for you.
