I have a friend looking for a kerosene manifold for a 55 massey harris. this is probably impossible to find.
My question is if anyone knows whether one could put a regular gasoline manifold on this tractor without changing the cylinder head.any help would be much appreciated

dont know what other manifold you would have if its a gas tractor? and no you dont change the head.

the 55 massey starts on gasoline then after warmup you switch to kerosene. There are two extra exhaust ports on the kerosene head that I believe heat up the kerosene entering the intake.
The gas manifold does not have these extra 2 exhaust ports but are blocked off by the gas manifold. I presume there would be no effect on performance when installing such head but I would like to know if anyone knows for certain.

Cam.t answer your question but if anyone needs it I have a MH55 propane head. I had over a thousand
spend on it when we were pulling antique tractors and never used it. Be cheap if anyone wants it.

does your head have 4 ports or 6 ??[/quote]

i hardly think it will be used with kerosene. and the gas manifold will work just fine. you dont want to be burning kerosene anyhow. that
stuff wore out more engines than the good it did.

I kind of thought that the gas manifold would work ok since the gas manifold blocks off those 2 extra ports that would warm up the kerosene. Don't wqant to run on kerosene anyway.
Just wanted someone else's opinion before I purchase the gas manifold. Thanks for the reply's Harry.
