New Holland T4 90 Quest 2020 1204 Update

I went to visit Carl Statz in Madison today to look at the 2016 T4.90. They are very nice people, large well organized showroom. It appears the spouse of an employee is on here, so they knew I was coming. The tractor was very nice, listed as new, but was not exactly new left over, as it had 150 hours on it. I believe it was never sold, but lent/leased out to the event center It does have warranty on it, so that is good. The online tractorhouse listing looks like you cannot list hours on new equipment, so believe that was the confusion. I would have no qualms buying from them. My wife saw the mules on the way out, and really wants one, so she may get one of those.

I am still learning.

I LOVED the 20 speed automatic shuttle, and would make that a requirement moving forward. You can go from forward to reverse without clutching by using the shuttle. There is an up/down button on the shifter that works exactly like a TA on the larger IH tractors. There is a 3 speed non synchronized range selector on the floor, a 4 speed synchronized shifter with the TA buttons up higher. The tractor did not have the 25 MPH road gear option that the 12 speed one I tried in MO did, I would like that but the 20 speed outways that.

This tractor has the 540/1000 PTO option, that I would want as the smaller implements have 540, with larger implements the 1000. You can remove a snap ring and swap the PTO, not unlike a 4020, except I was told there was one shaft. Our square baler has 1000 PTO on it, so this would make a nice square baler tractor. I do not know if this has enough HP for the big round baler, and doubt it would on 11.5' Mowco. I believe this has been an issue in selling, as the frame is the same up to 110 HP, which would definitely run both the round baler and Mowco.

This tractor did not have a loader, which I knew coming in. I had wanted to order a 665 loader on it, but found out today that the 665 or 655 loaders must be factory installed and can not be ordered separately. New Holland has a 635 MSL and a 637 SL loader which the dealer can get. I looked at the specification for these loaders and would probably put a Westendorf TA26 loader on it if so. That is the loader on my 6610 and it is built like a tank. That would work out well as my neighbor is buying my 6610, and we could interchange.

I have to evaluate the loader options before purchasing.

Glad to hear you had a good trip. Is the loader permanently attached & that's why it's a factory option? I have a tractor where the loader is not easy to remove & I'm not a fan of that. Makes it very difficult to access anything on the engine. Is the PTO shaft the type you pull, flip over & reinsert? Always liked that idea. Think AC started doing it first.

I am not sure on the mountings, that was my surprise today.

There was a 665TL that sold on tractorhouse tuesday, I should have jumped on this earlier, then could have bought that.

Did you check if Hennessey Implement has anything? They are the biggest New Holland dealer in WI and sometimes even sell to other NH dealers. Tom
