Case VAC Installing engine sleeves

I am working in my garage with no heat. Temperature is around 35 degrees F. Is this a problem when installing sleeves with o-rings.

to cold for me to do that. plus rubber is pretty stiff in the cold, dont want to cut an o ring. use only dish sop or brake fluid on them , no oil.at least have some sort of heater under the engine, be safe.

It would be a problem for me!

But for the orings, shouldn't make a difference. Just be sure everything is clean and soap them up.

(I seem to recall some folks @ NASA had a similar opinion about cccold O-rings!)

I wouldn't even consider installing wet sleeves though O-rings unless the parts were near room temperature except under the most DIRE circumstances where there was no other choice and the engine HAD to get running.

I would use one of the heaters like Larry used when painting, put it under engine, tarp over and let it cook for a day.

Thanks to all for your input on my question. Sounds like my restoration will have to be delayed until spring. 👍
