Got the log arch out of hibernation today dont use it much anymore I just skid them with the tajfun winch. The winch will lift the hooked end about a foot off the ground just leaving about six inches of tail of the log dragging in the dirt.the arch is handy at getting them out of a deep hollar I can drive out barely spinning a wheel

I considered building one of those, but decided that since I process my firewood at landings in the woods rather than drag all the firewood logs long distances to a central yard a long ways from where trees are cut, it would be more of a PIA backing it to logs and hooking them etc., than a time saver. Like you I have a 3pt skidding arch on my Kubota B2150. The tractor is very maneuverable in the bush and leaves little collateral damage. > All the mess from processing firewood is left in the woods.

I helped my son haul logs home to his house from a neighbor he is clearing a lot for. He ran the tractor and I drove the truck.

< Although it doesn't show in the picture he has the same winch on the back.

DC The winch is 12V. It doesn't get used much because the tractor can be backed to most of the logs and hooked directly the the arch, and the way I have the chain with keyhole in end of it for chokers, is rigged from the tractor drawbar and up over a slide at top of arch the chain shortens as I raise the 3pt hitch arms, and raises butts of logs off the ground. The winch is handy to bring tops out to where the stump is on occasion.------------------Loren

We had our own Derecho here on the 7th of October. Lots of downed trees here also to clean up in the edges of fields, and in the woods. ------------------Loren

That's a awesome set up you have Loren. I agree log arches are a pia unless that's all you have I can skid three on the winch and a couple in the grapple way faster

Big straight line wind, the one here was 60 miles wide and traveled almost 500 miles with winds over 100.

We got hit with 140.
