Sometimes I just don't get it....

I guess YouTube is just an odd site.... or has some strange viewers? I posted two videos with what could be considered silly titles, "Champagne Bubbles In The Coolant" & "Diesel Scented H" & they got more views than other recent postings. One video, "Loading Manure With The IH 2444 & 2050 Loader" has no views. There are a handful of subscribers to my channel, but nobody checked in to watch it. I find that odd. Wonder how you figure out if the subscribers got the notice that it was posted? Any other YouTubers here noticed a similar situation?

Mike

I don't think youtube does a very good job of notifying my subscribers.
One of mine that keeps getting new views for reasons I can't figure is titled, "Weasel Killed My Roosters". Maybe the title pulls the viewers? Do you put search tags or labels on your videos? I try to put tags in that will be likely to caught by searchers.

Get the "Millenial Farmer" to stop by in his travels sometime and put you in one of your videos. You will get thousands more subs.

That's a good idea! Not sure if he'd visit a farm that's a small potatoes outfit.... with equipment that should be in hospice care, but it's worth a
shot. And, I haven't actually watched any Millennial Farmer. Might have a better chance with another YouTuber that I watch & communicate with. She
might go for that.

Thanks for the idea!

"Weasels Killed My Roosters" sounds like an old Country & Western tune or something along the lines of Rockabilly. Maybe the person that's doing the
searching was looking for something else. I had thought that when I posted a video that was a short clip of a Gehl Blazer moving around at a tractor
show. Figured everyone was looking for a video on a Chevy Blazer & clicked on the wrong video. Boy, I bet they were disappointed. Lol!

Where do you insert search tags & labels?

Mike

It's "Ikon Sees Mr No". Easy to find. Don't think anyone else would use a goofy name like that. The meaning behind the name is three fold. First, it's an anagram of my name, second, (Zeiss) Ikon is my favorite brand of film camera & is what there is the most of in my collection. Third, I'm a huge fan of the early 007 movies & Dr. No would have been Mr. No before he achieved his doctorate.

Youtube can be incredibly frustrating. It's almost a complete mystery how to ride the algorithm and actually be seen by anyone. Just because someone subscribes to you doesn't mean that they will get a notification when your videos go up. Pay attention to your analytics and see what your top search terms are and go from there. Youtube says they don't promote the clickbait titles but it's hard not to notice how much better those videos do compared to better content appropriately labeled.

I recognize that name from your comments on my videos. When you are in the section of your videos looking at video details, down at the bottom of the page it says "show more". If you click that , it shows "tags" where you type in the box whatever tags you think will help draw people to your video.

The best way I can sum up the YouTube algorithm & clickbait titles is: nothing true is ever popular & nothing popular is ever true. I've unsubscribed
from a good many channels due to the over abundance of that nonsense. The other thing that irritates me, is Jesus this & God that. I was taught a long
time ago that discussing religion..... & politics in public/a public venue is done in poor taste. Also, someone's faith & beliefs should NEVER be used
to promote a channel, video, ect. That irritates me to no end.

I'll definitely research the analytics more. I'm familiar with that feature, but don't know how to best utilize it yet.

The biggest thing with YouTube is too get your mind off the numbers and enjoy doing it. And use catchy but not click bait titles. Thats my advice anyhow

I at one time had 60 followers and a bunch of ten and 15 minute videos but I couldn’t take the information selling / sharing to all the sh*t hole countries to call me every five minutes about my student loan my car warranty and my ssn being suspended got rid of screwoogle and the bs stopped

I found the numbers a bit perplexing, but nothing I'm going to sweat. There's a small number of sub's to my channel & for that I am grateful. To me, a lower number keeps things easy to manage in terms of content. Easier to keep after the comments, too. Have seen tooooo many channels go from a handful of sub's to over 200K in a matter of a few years. They went from being a pleasure to talk to, to now they don't respond to comments at all. Whether they don't have the time or have just gotten too big for their britches is beyond me.

Now for the view counts on my vids, guess that'll always leave me scratching my head. My baler video is about as long as Giant or Dances with Wolves. Didn't think it would be that interesting & it's one of the vids with the highest view count. Then there's the two vids of my dog. Can count all those views on two hands, but I never had any female viewers until I posted them. No surprise there. My dog gets all the girls & I get treated like a sick cat. Lol!

I have not had any problems like that. But then I did give them a landline number and I do call screening on that to see if its anyone I need to talk to.

Your subscribers have to click the bell to choose whether to receive notifications when you upload a
video. If they don't click it they won't get the notification.

Everybody seems to forget that just because it's not "politically correct" doesn't mean that it is incorrect.I do agree that faith should not be used to promote anything. But for somebody who doesn't want to talk about religion, you are doing a good job talking down to it...This country is founded on the Rock of Salvation, and it is a christian country, yet people try to ignore it.My main point here is,that if you are a true christian, you should be sharing the gospel. It's not just for me,It's for every single person walking the earth,in hope that they will accept Christ as their savior, and if I keep that to myself,I am not only being selfish,I am also causing them harm in so many ways.I just want you to see that true christianity is not some commercialized group, though there are many false teachers such as most mega churches that complete mislead the congregation, and don't follow the Bible themselves, all of this gives christianity a bad name in the eyes of the average un-saved person.

Amen, Farmer Rock!! Very few people who may think that they are and claim to be Christians really are, so their behavior can often be improper for a Christian, and as you say give Christianity a bad name.
