Question - What is the lever sticking straight up in the center of the picture? I've figured every other lever and linkage out but that one. I've never been around a Deere this old.

It does appear it is sticking straight up however it is not. It has the same profile as the lever to its left. But since it is positioned a bit counter clockwise from the other lever it is curved straight back toward you, the viewer. It is the shifter to split between 1-2 and 3-4 in transmission.

Thanks, FB. Makes sense now. I wondered about it being a shift lever but couldn't see how it would be shifted.
