Right Hip problems

My left hip is doing great and I'm back to operating all my equipment but on Saturday the right one started feeling like it was trying to jump out of socket so I made an appointment with my surgeon today. Looks like it will be replaced in January. He says it is a spur causing it to feel that way so it's time to get it fixed too. Up to this point the right one hasn't given me any problems since they did an injection in it. We knew both hips were shot so by hay time if the right one does as good as the left has I'll be in good shape again. I took the physical therapy and did my exercises for the most part like I was supposed too and only had to go for a month.

That's the way it went with mine. I asked the surgeon to evaluate my left after the right went so well. He said two to five years, depending on what you do. Six months later it was as bad as the right was. Replaced one year plus a week after the first. Glad to hear it's working out for you.

You know what to expect after having the first one done so this one should be easy. With a January surgery you will be healed and ready for haying season 2021.

Read your post with great interest. I am waiting on a Jan 5th replacement. The cortisone injection did not give me any relief. My
goal is to be going strong by hay time. It was good to read your encouraging post.
How long afterward before you could negotiate 4 steps????

The 3rd week of therapy I was doing the steps- step up with the left then bring the right up. 3 repetitions of 20 each. I had the anterior replacement done, the posterior takes a bit longer from what I hear. My surgeon is the only one that does the anterior from Huntington, WV. to Columbus Ohio. I was lucky that I got him instead of the other 2 surgeons at the hospital. If you can get the anterior done do it, not the extent of muscle and tendon damage that is with the other from what I hear. The hospital Marketing people are supposed to be calling me about the surgery from him and my recovery.

Posterior requires a lot more therapy and healing time. Both of Marilyns hips were done posterior. This doctor does both anterior and posterior surgeries but for some reason he did not want to do hers anterior. If I got it right posterior does afford the doctor more working room so he must have figured he needed more room for her surgery. She could not bend over for four months and she went to plenty of therapy sessions. I got very good at putting on her ted hose, socks and shoes but it did not bother me one bit to be there for her. The rest of my life had to stop for awhile.

Her brother had it done anterior and he was pretty active after a couple of weeks with no physical therapy though he wasnt running any races for awhile later.
