Wisconsin engine:

Help me I am looking for the right Dip stick for a Wisconsin engine. I have rebuilt one and have it all done
but I have two dip sticks that do not make any since to me on which one is the right one. so I have just
figure out I would come in and ask if any body has the right one for this engine. This is on a 1972 I.H. skid
steer loader model 3200. the engine is a Wisconsin V-4 air cooled engine serial number is 4929061 specks are
341737. the problem is with the other ones they do not read the oil in the engine. They should be reading oil
as full but no reading at all in the case. If you have the right one and want to sell it how munch . Please
let me know thank you.

temporarily spot Braze the short stick onto the longer one. (I assume the oil has been correctly filled with a new filter, and the engine started) Put it in the tube and mark the level. Adjust the total length to the new level and permanently braze it on. Jim

JIm has it. fill with correct amount of oil. The manual will tell you how much/many quarts.Insert the stick (any will do)and remark it. Not rocket science.

Hello Brent Zappe,

If the tube on the upper dip stick fits the block, why not use that dipstick. Looks like you have plenty to go longer on that loop.

Drain and fill the engine with the right amount of oil first, one of two quarts low then you can mark the stick. Then add the rest of the oil, and mark the normal full level. There used to be universal stick you can modify for any application.

The dipsticks were available for diesel engines on class 8 trucks. You may have to go-to a truck parts house to get one, if the loop on your stick is not long enough,

Guido.

Okay thank you for all these fine answers. Yelp I thought of all this for some time and yes tried different stuff to fix this problem. The problem is when running the skid steer and trying to figure if you have the right amount of air. WHY? Well because it is Air Cooled engine just like those great German Volos wagon cars. I guess the next step is to find me a person who sells Wisconsin parts. Well thanks again for all your help.
