Is there a good additive
to clean a catalytic
converter a code is coming
up P0430 either a sensor
or converter It runs
fine.Im trying to limp it
along until things turn
around with all.

If you take it off, Soak in a bucket of soap overnight . On the vehicle add a gal. of lacquer thinner to half a tank of gas and run it on the HWY for at least half an hr. Google it to make sure that I am correct.

I looked into that on my daughters car.

Best conclusion I came up with was there was no magic fix.

Even a new aftermarket converter would not last like a factory one, and a factory set of converters was more than the car was worth!

Even going with factory is no guarantee it won't get oil fouled if the engine is getting tired.

End result, she wrecked it... Again... I said enough and sold it to the wrecking yard.

I doubt that code will ever effect drivability as long as its just a converter that's a little below the threshold. If you need to clean it up to pass a state OBD emission test BG K44 has worked well for me... I would rate it at a 50/50 chance... [/url]

Most of the time catalyst efficiency codes come up, the catalyst is simply worn and degraded, not dirty or in need of a cleaner. BG44k, Chevron/techron concentrate, Lucas injection cleaner, or most any respectable fuel injector cleaner should also provide some level of cleaning. Keep in mind, these cleaners are more for preventative maintenance and not particularly to fix a problem.

i know around here its remove and replace once they are plugged. did that on my duramax and it sure made a difference on power.
