Power steering

I have recently added a loader to me 2640 tractor. Since I have added the loader I have had hard steering mostly when the tractor is stopped. I have been using it until I blew a seal on the top of the steering column underneath the wheel. I am going to replace all the seals and O rings for the steering. I feel like this problem is directly related to the loader. I will attach pictures of how I installed the loader and where the steering column started leaking.

It appears the loader is plumbed in correctly, flow sourced after the priority valve and returned to a ported filter cover. (I HOPE I'm not seeing a brass fitting used on that high pressure hydraulic system, though?)

As to the steering leak, there's a LOT of parts in that unit and some are shimmed using special tools to set them up if the shims are lost or mixed up or certain parts are changed.

Be CAREFUL to keep ALL the parts in EXACT order and install EXACTLY as removed and you should be OK

Really pulling this in from left field but is the loader valve you are using set up for a closed center system? If you are connected after the priority valve I would think it would still direct enough flow to your power steering for it to operate correctly. Hold you bucket curl lever to raise and hold it there once it is to the end of the stroke then try to steer. If it steers then you likely have an open center valve.

This is the valve that I installed. It comes as a open center but I installed a closed center plug on the outlet port on the side of the valve. So I believe it is correct based on the instructions. I have noticed that while operating the valve it sometimes will jerk my steering wheel. It seems that I am not getting enough the operate both steering and loader functions.

Did you increase (screw in) the main relief on your loader valve to the maximum setting? You want the tractor's relief valve to control the hydraulics not the loader valve main relief.
