Hydro Sludge

Hello,

Ive got water into my system and in a spot that is inaccessible. Put a scope in the spot and can see old hydro and water caked up around a screen intake to the pump. I have lost all pressure because of this. Does anyone know what I can use to break this sludge up and suck it out?

Thanks

On my IH 574, I was able to take out the filter and use diesel to clean up the sludge. Of course, on the off chance that you have something other than a 574, your results may vary.

A little water will not cause the hydraulics to totally loose pressure unless the screen is clogged.

If the screen is clogged to the point it can not flow, it will have to come out and be cleaned or replaced.

Nothing I know of will clean one just by rinsing it off. Embedded dirt and sludge is difficult to clean out even with the screen out and in hand.

Run some diesel through it then work your way up to tractor hydraulic fluid and dump that a time or two depending how bad it is . Pull the screen and clean it first

Diesel is the ticket then? Ford 445 has a section where this pick up and screen is inaccessible. Have to split the trans and engine to get at it. I will purge and stir and purge. lost pressure at the blocker and im sure the screen is not allowing the fluid into the pump.

Thanks

Diesel fuel is not a very good lubricator of fast spinning bearing like a transmission even if only setting idling. it would need to be full to the top the fuel will just sling off before it gets to the parts needing the lubrication.
