I recently received a tractor. It says B on the side of the tractor. But it has the A offset. Someone tried to tell me it was a BN but it's too narrow for that I think. It also has a narrow front like a B but I think the tractor started its life as an A. It says B on the side but who knows how many tractors are involved in this. The muffler goes under it. I think it has an intake off a combine or swather on it. Also a questionable air cleaner. The tractor runs great as there aren't too many hours on an overhaul. My plan is to put it back together as an A. If it had a data plate all these questions would be answered. Is there any other way to tell age and model besides the data plate?

It could well be like one I built. I took parts of a B and an A and built my BA. From the front back to the transmission it is a B other then inside the engine. Then from the transmission back it is an A

Could be like the Super A industrial that I have. In a previous life, it was city mowing tractor. Before I acquired it, it had been tipped over while being used in a steep ditch. To repair it, the salvage yard had to replace the gas tank, steering wheel and hood. It has a race car steering wheel, a salvage B gas tank & an ill fitting hood from a B. It says B on the hood, but the square tube front axle & tag on the seat support tells the rest of the story. I think it also has a different manifold, that may be from a C.

It could be a "B" with an A left axle housing and a strange exhaust. I would put a cast wheel on the right, and 2 wheel weights to assure equal weight distribution and
add stability. Post a Picture. Jim
