Factory in Kewaunee, WI, on the lake due East of Green Bay, closed in 1991. Owned by the Glidden family. Excellent reputation for building high-quality machinery. Kewaunee County Historical Society has a lot of info on them. Try Googling them. Some info comes up.

I was thinking that Allied owned Kewanee when they also owned New Idea. This would have been before AGCO bought New Idea. I am wondering if AGCO now owns them but doesn't use the brand name anymore.

This article states that Allied bought New Idea in 1984 and Kewanee in 1983.
Kewanee products were discontinued in 1994, which is when AGCO bought New Idea from Allied.

Good well built eqipment, lots of elevators in our area, red ones and green ones, one color was supposed to be heavyer built than the other, disks were quite popular too, many of the 10- 12ft. wheel disks around at one time, we still have a 1020 20 ft flat fold disk we bought new in the 70's, don't plan on replacing it any time soon, also a model 270 field cultivator that seems to work well, but we also don't much tillage anymore. Probably not the most unto date machinery any more and parts are harder to find, but still viable machinery in my opinion.

There were a lot of Kewanee tillage equipment pieces around in the 70’s and 80’s. You still see them turn up on auction sales now and then, like everything else. Most of the dealerships that sold them are long gone now, just like the farmers that bought them new

John Deere Machine Finder has 4 Kewaunee discs for sale right now. An 1175 24' folding model in Hillsboro, OH for $6000. A 1020 in Macedonia, IA for $2950, etc.

Allied was a kiss of death for any company that owned them including White, Fram, Bendix and a long list

I remember, now that I think about it, that it was an Illinois Company. When this subject came up this morning I did a google search on it and came up with an interesting article that discussed the company in some detail but nowhere in the article did it identify what state the company was in. I just re-read it to make sure. My mistake and I hope I didn't mislead anyone.

Kewanee, Illinois. Friendliest town we ever lived in. Designed with families in mind. Many city parks within walking distance. As a railroader I pulled and set many rail cars into Kewanee manufacturing.

i have a 14 ft kewanee wheel disk. use it once in a while on the garden, to maintain lanes, and for field fires. it sits outside ready to go. has pioneer couplers on it and there is a set of jd adapters in case a neighbor needs it. so far only had to use it twice on neighbors fields that caught fire.

When I was a kid I think we had a Kewanee fast hitch blade, an elevator and chisel plow.

We also had a 1020 disk for several years. Our first hydraulic folding one. It also had a Midwest Manufacturing harrow on the back. Never had one but always thought a kewanee elevator would be the best thing since sliced bread. And one of our silage wagons has a six-wheeled kewanee gear.

They also had a plant in Kirksville MO,they were adding on a big addition that was never finished. I was never in the plant, but I did deliver to Donaldson plant next door.

I HAVE A 1020 DISC and had a kewanee elevator. The disc would start flapping it's wings if it was pulled too fast. Kewanee cultimulchers was a big thing in my area at one time,
