help with seal size

I need to replace a seal on the hydraulic system of my AC 5040. It's a rock shaft seal. According to the parts manual, the size of the seal is M5.33 x 50.16. How do you read these numbers? Is one the inside diameter and the other the width? Also, anyone have a good online source to buy seals from?

That appears to be an O-ring with a 5.33mm cross section (width) and an inside diameter of 50.16mm. Look at the two right hand columns of this list.

The seal most certainly has a manufacturer's part number in the parts book. There also should be a part number stamped into the seal itself. Take that with you to your nearest bearing and seal shop, and they will cross-reference it for you. No confusion about measurement necessary. Even NAPA can do this.

Or, you could simply go to your local Agco dealer and get the factory part. It may be a little more expensive than you can get it elsewhere, but it's a seal, it's not going to cost you $4700.

I don't know anywhere online that is just a big warehouse of seals and allows you to order from their inventory online.

Generally metric seals would have 3 dimensions, normally shown in this order: Shaft OD X Bore ID X Seal Width. Two dimensions is generally an O-ring.

It is my understanding that a 5040 and many Long tractors are first cousins. My Longs require an o-ring on the rockshafts. I have replaced some in the past. I might be able to find you the Long part number if you want it.

Do you remember if you had to pull the whole hydraulic unit off the transmission to change the orings? I'm new to this tractor (it was my dads) and it had sit for many years before I got it. When I run an implement that requires the PTO, the rock shaft leaks badly on the right hand side behind where the lift arm attaches.

Part # 70932255 3/16 x 2 inch ID O-ring

On my Long Tractors I removed the top hitch section from the rockshaft, and used a hook to pull out the oring. Used some carb or brake cleaner to take clean the surfaces and replaced the oring.
