hyd cyl end cap removel

Trying to get end cap off 3 " hyd cyl. to spanner holes in face of cap. used 4 foot cheater pipe & air hammer no joy what next can I use a torch to heat the end of the cyl.

case ram ? take a hammer and hit around the tube at the thread line don't beat the h out of it but hard enough to brake the rust have done many rams and never had a failure getting them apart biggest problem is the spanner wrench

Hi, I would agree with the above. If you have an anvil that is the place to take it to. Tap firmly around the cap area to loosen the cap. If necessary make up a spanner that will be a very good safe fit that you can safely put leverage on. Don’t use heat at this stage. If the thread shoul ‘pick up’ during removal you will be in trouble. Once you get it moving get some spray or oil into it and take it off slowly.
