I plowed 9 acres, double disced 6 and rollar packed 6. All on a 73yr old H Farmall, and me at 74 with a steel wheel rope trip plow, and 16ft disc. ALL IHC

Glad to hear you can still do it. Really hope it's because you want to and not because you have to. I've been retired since 2011. At 67, I can still put in a fair day if I want, but don't want to all that often and never have to. The last 9 years have been the the best 9 years of what has been a very good life. I sincerely hope everyone gets to experience true retirement if they want to. If that means working 9 acres with a 73 year old tractor, more power to you!

Sounds like a great way to spend a day to me! A few pics would have made it better for the rest of us though, Mike

Plowing and working ground is one of the few farming things I can do because of my allergies. I always enjoyed it.

Yesterday was one of those days for me where I was very sore in the evening, in particular in my shoulders and my thumbs where my arthritis is getting bad. I couldn't think of what I had done that would make me sore so I picked up my phone and looked at the health app. It showed way more steps and cardio exercise time than I would have thought. And then my activities for the day started coming back to me.

I was able tp pull a 10 foot disc with my Allis 5020!

I pulled all the way to the other side of the lawn so I could mow where it set. :)^D

Good one !!! I once pulled my 11 1/2 ft JD field cultivator with my Ariens garden tractor for a similar reason.

You can pull a 16ft disc if you keep it almost straight! LOL Hope he did not have a few big rocks on the weight pan. Leo

Ya, the type of disc I know as what I think is called a
tandem disc has a configuration where the front pair
of gangs form an angle pointing away from the back
of the tractor. Also having a rear set of gangs forming
an angle pointing towards the tractor. Any disc as
such 16 ft in width with reasonable sized diameter
blades would be more then an H could begin to
muster. Even just barely scratching the soil. In fact
even one of those tractors that couples two together if
both were turbocharged would not even really pull
such a disc very well. I wonder if he didn’t mistakenly
add a one in front of the 6. A 7ft IH drag disc is about
all any H would really want to pull if it was going in
any sufficient depth. Whatever you did glad you
enjoyed yourself.

Grandpa pulled a 14 ft. disk with his B JD. It was just a single gang. Was disking for grandpa one day and had to always over lap half way. Was doing good till one cylinder started missing. Things went down hill real fast when that happened.
