Question for Dieseltech or others

I've been reading lots of articles on using ATF as diesel injector cleaner, lots of pros and cons. What is your thoughts and opinions on using it or would you recommend something else? Mainly on the older machines from the 60's and 70's.

I prefer two cycle motor oil for added lube. Being in pump/injector repair over forty years and counting, buying clean fuel and having good filter maintenance does the most good. Not a fan of ATF, especially for on road use. You DON'T want to get caught with the ATF fuel tint and try explaining you're not running farm fuel when you're tank gets checked.
Bio diesel also can cause problems IF used in diesels that set unused a lot. I've seen the loose fitting governor weights in CAV DPA and Stanadyne/RoosaMaster pumps stuck inside the weight cage with grease/tar like build up they wouldn't fall out with the cage upside down. The metering valve and rotor plunger will stick too, same as they do with any traces of water in fuel.
Buy CLEAN fuel, and KEEP it CLEAN is your best bet..

Another question related. Will the ultra-low sulfer diesel for on road use cause problems in our older (60's, 70's) diesels? I have a 1655 Oliver that gets very little use so I tend to buy 5 or 10 gallons for it at the same station I fill up my pickup. (Duramax) Should we be adding something to the fuel if we run this kind of fuel?

I used marvels mystery oil. works great on older diesels. I had an N14 cummins and when they went to the ulsd diesel I would put a quart in 300 gal and get .3 miles to the gallon more fuel economy. When the gov started getting pickey about getting every penny I called marvels and they told me their red was a different red and was approved fuel additive, sent me a letter stating such and if I had a problem a lawyer to back it up.

I'm far to be a fuel specialist.

Here is my thinking:

2 stroke oil is intended to lubricate and burn in a 100 PSI compression engine with gravity feed fuel system. In 400+ PSI compression engine and vaporizing fuel with injectors it will burn easyly will lubricate the injection components and will produce slight byproducts and pollution.

ATF is intended to resist to high temperature it has additive to avoid cluthes and bands slipping.
It will not burn completely and will cause byproducts and pollution.

I use 2 stroke oil for years in diesel fuel and even sporadicly in gas engines it avoid sticking valves.

It is my humble opinion after over 50 years using machinery.

Thanks for reading

Thanks. And I should have been more specific because I was referring to off road equipment not on road. I know some states are very picky on checking tanks

And I totally agree with your comments and have said the same thing. Auto trans oil is just what it says it’s for. I agree with 2 cycle oil also. I use dipetane fuel additive , it’s like an oil, not like the Kleen flow dry stuff. I also proved that it works this afternoon in my 560 with a gummy pump. Plus my duramax has 430,000km. And engine has not been touched. Has basically burnt dyed fuel for the last 15 years. I also had one guy tell me dyed diesel will wreak my injection pump. I said how can that be? It’s all the same fuel. He said it’s the dye. I said well it’s pretty well all my truck has burned. Then he started saying how it buggared his up. I thought ya right.
