A few days ago JayinNY posted some pictures of a homemade tractor scoop.
I have an old Popular Mechanics book from 1947 that illustrates how to build it.
Everything appears to be doable in a home shop except the curved piece.
May need to source that one out.

Amazing what a person could rig together to build a loader using no hydraulics, but boy am I glad for modern technology.

I love those old books, I have some going back to the 1920's. It is amazing what sorts of projects that people took on for themselves back in the day ..... not only farmers of course but guys living in the suburbs too. Everything from furniture to Christmas presents and everything in between. I think it would amaze all of us today as to how many homes don't even have a basic set of hand tools.
