Bought an IHC 445 Baler

I know close to nothing about the IHC balers, but I have been looking for a good Farmhand 8 bale accumulator to put on my JD 336 baler. My neighbor had this nice 445 wire tie baler in his shed I noticed last week when I stopped by to visit. Thought about it all week and went over today and asked if he ever intended to use it or if be might sell it (it was actually his Dads). He said he didnt plan on using it. I asked what he wanted. He said $1500.00 for the baler, accumulator, and a Welco bale fork. I couldn't get him paid fast enough.
My question to anyone with experience is if the IHC 445 is a decent baler? I assume parts would be tough. The fellow I got it from, 73 years old, says it rarely would miss a tie as long as the wire had plenty of oil on it, which I have to do with my JD 336 as well. It has not been used in several years, but always inside. Any good or bad about the baler? Both look in very good shape. Thanks - Bob

I had a 440 twine tie, the thing i liked it did have a quality pick up,they were rubber mounted, i don't think i ever had to buy a tooth!

I would be curious to know if it is considered a higher capacity or lower capacity baler. Approximate years they were made etc. Any other bits of wisdom on it.
I am trying to find out if it is comparable to my JD336 if they were both in the same condition. I hate to go to the trouble to change the accumulator if this baler is comparable to the 336, assuming them to be roughly in the same mechanically. Just looking for some experienced thoughts. Thanks in advance - Bob

Being a wire baler the 445 should put out more tonnage on an hourly basis as the bale density should in theory be higher. Plunger strokes per minute will be another direct factor in tonnage per hour.
