scrap up a little??

I've been cleaning out my shop. I've got several automatic transmissions that I've saved over the years. I called the scrap yard. 8 cents a pound. Not worth hauling them in.

$75 a ton for mixed junk (water heaters, washer, gears, building tin, pipe etc) in Utah. It was at $20 earlier this year

It's been a couple on months since I took anything to the scrap yard, but the last time I was in, they were paying 3 1/2 cents a pound for mixed iron. I think that's $70.00 a ton. Unfortunately, I only had about 800 pounds so I came home with $28.00 minus about 3 gallons of gas at $2.20 per gallon. Hmm.

A few years back I had a person tell me I should load up my scrap iron pile and sell and I told him heck no it is worth more where it is because when I need some iron to fix something I have it

Why don't you take them apart & sell the aluminum separate? I did that one winter &
hauled in over 3 1/2 tons of aluminum. Plus the iron is top grade too.

They may have some value to a re-builder. I have brought 100's back in the day $25 and up...

Junk cars don't fetch much I buy them cheap get the catalytic converter off and load them up with scrap. When full push them into the edge of the woods they will set their till the price gets right... Most of the time the converter will fetch what I have in it : )
I have two cars abandoned on me now one I have a short tow in the other a few hours of my time...

I have about 4K lbs of brake rotors, 75 radiators ( 10 copper rads where the money is at) right much clean aluminum and some copper it will set till the price is right...
