Front wheel weights

Front wheels weight Does it matter if
they go on inside the wheel or out side.
Of the wheel. Trying to win an
agreement. Thanks. I say it don't
matter. Easier to put on and off out
side. Mud will bind the wheel up if in
the inside.
 
Depends on the tractor and the weights, Ford had some that were made two piece for inside and single piece for outside, had different shapes to them, I know my outside weights wouldn't fit inside on many of my tractors
 
Inside, you can still take the tire off without removing the weights. Nothing like a flat and you have to take off a hundred lb wheel weight.
 
Yeah, I have a Ford 5000 with the 2 piece inside front wheel weights.

They don't fit over the hub, have to remove the weights to get the wheel off....PITA. Probably explains why I've got Slime in the front tires.

But I need both them and a set of the small suitcase weights on the front to keep it nailed down if I'm hauling my round (5.5 x 5.5) bales or have the 7ft rotary mower on the back.

It’s interesting that a 26 hp D-10 would have front weight. No disrespect intended. Not to long ago there was discussion about fluid v. weights and someone commented that there is data on the tire reaction and traction in relation to the ground with fluid ballasted tires v. mounted weight. As for the front weight in the tire versus mounted on the frame it reminds of our dirt racing days when we would stuff the rims with “Nerf” foam to prevent clay build up. The rule was that unsuspended weight is bad weight in a race car. Granted, a tractor would be exactly opposite of this theory, but it was likely an attempted selling point in it’s time. The fact that the rims and tires are weighted could be argued to create less stress and wear on the drive train.
 
I got a 51 M not to many hours never had a Loader, or a corn cultivator, and never wobbled, i put one set on front on the outside, that made it wobble, i took them off quicker than they went on!
 
Wrap around is the way to go!
