Plow part info?

Working on a 1936-37 John Deere 4b plow. Had one of these brackets or mounts on each bottom. Appear to be well made and identical. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike

That appears to be something home made in an attempt to help reduce plugging up the plow in trash. All old plows didn't have much clearance, long trash would hang up on the plow beam and catch more trash and soon you have to stop and clean it out. Leave them on and try it. Chris

I don’t see how that would help any for trash flow, just choke it down further?

Don’t know.

I wondered about a jointer of some kind but sure looked like it was going to make the plow plug up in heavy straw so I left them off when I put the new bottoms on. Coulters were also way worn down and adjusted for who knows what about 3 inches too far left and forward so I tipped them over for now until I get some better ones out of the parts pile. Mostly stubble plowing around here so I have only seen Jointers on one plow, I have a 2 bottom international No. 10 plow with them but they are mounted off of the coulter standard. Thanks for the ideas, Mike
